Area Philanthropists to be honored by The Little Sisters of the Poor
Michael and Dolores Insalaco to receive the Holy Family Award at the Holy Family Awards Brunch on May 1
On Sunday, May 1, the Little Sisters of the Poor, Scranton, will present Michael and Dolores Insalaco with the Holy Family Award at their third Holy Family Awards Brunch. The event begins at 11 a.m. at the Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel, 700 Lackawanna Ave., Scranton, where the Rev. Joseph F. Sica, chaplain of Mercy Hospital, will serve as toastmaster.
The Insalacos, who co-owned and co-operated Insalaco Supermarkets locally for many years, were selected to receive this honor in recognition of their ongoing commitment of supporting the Little Sisters in their mission of serving the elderly poor at Holy Family Residence, Scranton. The Insalacos themselves have also lived a mission of serving others which is evidenced by their generous support of numerous non-profit institutions throughout the Lackawanna and Wyoming Valleys.
Always as donors but most often as active volunteers, the Insalacos have used their personal resources, as well as those supplied by the corporation founded by Michael and his brothers, to continuously contribute to charitable causes and educational institutions that serve and benefit the residents of Northeastern Pennsylvania. Much like the example set by St. Jeanne Jugan, the Mother Foundress of the Little Sisters of the Poor, the Insalacos seldom speak of their philanthropic efforts. Instead, they choose to do good in a modest and quiet manner.
To join the Sisters and their guests on this special occasion, please call Judy Cosgrove at (570) 344-5106 or (570) 947-5560 by April 18 to make a reservation.
