SCRANTON – On October 15, 2014, Little Sister of the Poor Sister Theresa Michel, l.s.p., celebrated her 50th Jubilee of Perpetual Vows. The Little Sisters marked the occasion with a Mass in the chapel of Holy Family Residence celebrated by the Rev. E. Francis Kelly, chaplain. During the Mass, the Sisters and members of the Association Jeanne Jugan, a lay apostate of the Little Sisters, united their voices and sang many of Sister Theresa Michel’s favorite hymns including “I Have Loved You With An Everlasting Love.”
Following the Mass, the Residents, Sisters, and employees surprised Sister Theresa Michel with a delicious Italian lunch and entertainment by Italian tenor Giovanni Antidormi as a salute to her pride in her Italian ancestry.
The Little Sisters, who have been serving the elderly poor in Northeastern Pennsylvania since 1908, work closely with staff, volunteers, and benefactors in creating a family spirit for the Residents.
