It was fresh. It was warm. It was absolutely perfect. And, that’s just the description of the weather – not to mention the roast beef – we enjoyed here in Scranton on October 16 at our sixth annual roast beef dinner.
Our second most successful dinner to date, together, we raised over $25,000! That is just incredible! Plus, it just about covered the remaining costs of our new bus for our Resident outings, which is also incredible!
At this year’s event, Cathy Gavin and her staff from Stirna’s Restaurant once again generously treated our guests to a succulent dinner. The meal, which also included mashed potatoes and gravy, carrots, assorted pies, and beverages, was served with a smile by Stirna’s staff, our dedicated team of volunteers, and pleasant Holy Cross High School students. We were also blessed to have committee members and volunteers give of their time and energy at the event by working at our baked goods and raffle stands throughout the day working hard to help us meet our fundraising goals.
While raising this money is so helpful to us, none of this would have been possible without the support of so many people. In addition to Stirna’s Restaurant, we would like to thank all of the families and businesses who provided us with sponsorships and purchased tickets for the dinner as well as Lamar Advertising for donating billboard space to help us promote the event.

And if you happen to run into any of them, be sure to give them a warm hello and thank you for caring about God’s eldest children.
Until next time,
Jackie
