February is known nationwide as a month to celebrate love. Whether it is shared between couples, families, or friends, its bond is founded in God’s love for all of humanity. Here at Holy Family Residence, we were blessed to witness that love in a special way on two very special occasions.
On Valentine’s Day, Scranton Preparatory School junior, Gabby Hanstein, made a special delivery to our Home. For the 12th year in a row, the sweet, 17-year-old provided each of our Residents with one of her original Valentines.
Gabby, who has been creating cards since she was in Kindergarten, not only designs the front of the card – this year featuring an abstract pencil sketch – but also composes a poem which is printed on the inside of the card.

Just two weeks following Gabby’s visit, our Residents received another special visit from some very thoughtful students from neighboring Marywood University. For the third year in a row, the group organized a Senior Prom.
This grand gesture of love, which included dinner and dancing, is always special for our Residents. The students always treat our Residents with great love, respect, and kindness – qualities that are well worth sharing!
