Winston Churchill once said, “we make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” Oh how true that is and how blessed we are at Holy Family Residence to have so many giving people who “make their lives” by making the lives of our Residents each and every day.
These people, better known as our Jeanne Jugan Associates and volunteers, share their time and talents in a variety of ways which helps to build the family spirit that permeates through our home. Whether they’re planting flowers, helping with an activity, assisting at Mass, or serving in some other capacity, their dedication makes a lasting impact.
In appreciation of their efforts, the Little Sisters recently honored these two groups. During National Volunteer Week, the Little Sisters hosted a volunteer appreciation luncheon on Wednesday, April 26, in the café of Holy Family Residence. And just a few days later on April 30, they hosted a luncheon for our Jeanne Jugan Associates. Prior to the luncheon, our Associates made their annual promise at the 10:30 a.m. Mass where they dedicated themselves in humble service to the elderly poor. Performing many of the same services as our volunteers, Jeanne Jugan Associates also strive to deepen their faith and reliance on Divine Providence by following the example set forth by the mother foundress of the Little Sisters of the Poor, St. Jeanne Jugan.
